It must be an AMD3+ cpu because my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 my current cpu is an AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition 965 and i got an Asus HD 7950 Bigger question is future proofing, buying previous generation hardware is always bit risky for updateability in the future. I am currently looking at a Broadwell-E 6800K/X99 motherboard rather than a new GPU.

The one advantage the i5 has is it has an unlocked mulitplier, meaning you can overclock it like crazy. If it where me, I'd get an overpowered one.
AMD has been much more secretive, but also plans to use HBM for their upcoming arctic line and has boasted 10 times the speed as well. To be honest it almost runs perfectly for me aside from sever side issues. The CPU is often stuck to the heat sink with thermal compound, which helps transmit accumulated heat from the CPU heat spreader surface to the heat sink. I would always go for the higher rated psu - it can't harm your system as it will only ever output 12 & 5 volts DC. It can just support more demand without a brown-out.It will save you having to do it in the future when you upgrade or add other components that require more power -
I mean the E3 fits the desktop socket and it's cheap :P I'm fairly certain the E3 probably even has the igpu (De-activated). AMD has been using variants of its socket AM3 since 2009. I'd definitely start with more core for the CPU tho. Do you plan to get a new GPU soon?
