I'd be concerned that the machine got virused / rooted / whatever. So mine has been blinking at my all morning and making this really obnoxious bleeping noise. Did you receive any drivers with the hardware? Ever since I installed that software, I get FOUND NEW HARDWARE on Boot-Up.

At the very least, you should try to restore it from the Windows XP installation disc. The balloon popping up was getting very old!!!
