December 11, 2009 Mara We have 2 hp (psc1315/laserjet1200) printers, connected to a mini notebook with Windows XP 32 bit on it (serves as sort-of-printserver). This worked for me - I'm now printing from my XP box to the Win7 attached RX500. It works. First make sure both machines are members of the same Workgroup which by default is named Workgroup.

Eventaully used add printers on XP and manually typed in the address of the printer (case matters for the address e.g. \\Grainnecourt-PC\EPSONStylusPhoto(Copy 2) and it worked! But i'm trying to connect to a printer (that is on a windows 7 computer) through my Windows XP laptop. August 9, 2009 Eddy From my vista/xp machine, i can see the shared folder but access was denial. Windows Xp Advanced Sharing Settings I got the error message "The specified network name is longer available." I am 100% sure I typed everything completely right including upper/lower case. Is there a way to run them on windows 7?

Viewing the Network option using Windows Explorer on the Windows 7 PC and double clicking my XP PC, I could now see all my Shared Folders and Printers and following some I turned off password protect in Win 7 I told XP to share its drive and files. I made sure that the windows 7 drivers where installed on the laptop and did as you instructed and it worked perfectly. I can access all files on the windows 7 laptop but I cannot find the xp machine from the laptop nor can I share a printer.
I don't know if my Windows 7 being 64 bit has anything to do with it or not, but I do know that I have followed the steps here, as well
