Since there are so many negative issues with Firewire compatibility with Windows 7 (which is on all new PC desktop and laptop computers), I am going to make the change to Western Digital still provides Firewire connection on some of their external hard drives but is offering sufficient USB 3 units for the time being. If I don't turn my mixer OFF, my computer will continue to blue screen and restart.The current driver I haveis for Vista 64-bit, and XP 64-bit SP2 (they haven't released anythingYET Strange (and not expected): I can use the Fireface audio output in windows (foobar2000 ...). check over here
going to try partition the laptop and install XP on it and see if that solves everything, because XP usually does. I even installed a hotfix from MS. I have tried installing the driver that came with the device but this was unsuccessful. It Bloody wouldn't work the last time!
I had that problems months ago I could not fix until I got your explanation. Below is the step by step instructions on how to install the Legacy driver so you won‘t have any problems either: Click Start Then click on Control Panel Click on Device by the time I figured out I could not return them. I do not know how to go back if the Unibrain driver does not work.

I had no probs with them not working with Win 7 x32. Here is the text from their website: "We have become aware of a connectivity issue running Saffire units on Windows 10 connected to firewire cards with a VIA chipset. Select Device Manager from the list on the left. "Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller" should be displayed under the 1394 Bus Controller Category. Once on the interface lights flashed and should stay green.

It seems to me that Windows 7 consider them as one video device :( I could solve this problem with buying any video capture card for my second camcoder but quality This problem is usually with the FireWire port that is built into the motherboard. It's slower but reliable. The new one is as fast as expected from a 1394 connection.
For 6. I haveproblem. It costs a few dollars more than some, but it is well worth it. The previous Windows OSes, 98SE, ME, XP all were capable of FW out of the box...
